About Justice for Girls
Justice for Girls is a Canadian non-profit organisation and registered charity which promotes equality, freedom from violence, social and environmental justice, and the health and wellness of teenage girls who live in poverty. They are based in Vancouver, BC.
The Role
The Leadership Development Specialist will lead the design, implementation and institutionalisation of Justice for Girls' intergenerational feminist leadership model, ensuring sustainable pathways for girls and young women from lived experience into advocacy, governance and organisational leadership. This is a 10-month grant-funded contract role based in person at the Justice for Girls office in Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, update and implement a girls and young women's leadership plan aligned with JFG's values and WAGE grant objectives
- Coordinate the JFG Girls Advisory Council including scheduling meetings, recruiting members and designing learning resources
- Offer quality mentorship and capacity-building activities for advisors, interns, staff and volunteers
- Monitor milestones, collect evidence of leadership development impact and write progress reports
- Support expansion of a national network of girls and young women leaders
- Liaise with partners and consultants to deliver leadership-related activities on time and within budget
- Design dissemination materials, toolkits and learning resources for knowledge sharing
- Identify and develop ongoing funding opportunities for girls' leadership programmes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education, public policy, social work, nonprofit management, Indigenous studies or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit programme development, programme leadership or mentoring youth
- Proven ability to engage and support teenage girls
- Demonstrated ability to design leadership programmes and manage complex projects with budgets
- Knowledge of issues facing teenage girls who live in extreme poverty and violence
- Strong commitment to equality and reduction of systemic barriers
- Excellent organisational, research and communication skills
What They Offer
